It was love at first sight… When I first set eyes on Elie Top’s ‘Bouchons de Carafe’ collection for Baccarat, I was mesmerised by the intrinsic beauty of each piece. I have always had a penchant for coloured glass crystal; I have sipped champagne from Baccarat crystal glasses at The Berkeley during a fashionistas’ high tea; but for me, the combination of Elie Top’s playful design aesthetic and the sophistication of established Parisian style results in something mouth-wateringly decadent and oh so desirable…
‘Bouchons de Carafe’ is a jewellery collection which is inspired by some of Baccarat’s iconic decanters. Elie Top, the designer for Lanvin, told Adorn London what inspired the collection: "I decided to go back to Baccarat’s roots; for me, the name Baccarat suggests chandeliers, gleaming facets and French-style luxury. I aimed to revive these design codes, but with a touch of tongue-in-cheek humour. In French, one says that a diamond is "as big as a decanter stopper!" The collection is a light-hearted take on this expression, as well as a respectful tribute to Baccarat."
