LBD & ME
The final post in our LBD & Me style series on Adorn London is based around Seaworld, a SS12 jewellery trend highlighted on our Jewellery Trends page. The idea behind the LBD & Me series, is to show you how jewellery can transform an outfit and how the same LBD can be accessorised differently to reflect a different mood or look.
Yves St Laurent suede platform starfish wedges from Net-a-Porter and Lanvin’s shell-shaped Minaudiere evening bag from Lanvin will leave little doubt that your look is inspired by the ocean. But as with everything we wear, life would just not be the same without dazzling jewels to add the finishing touches.
1.Take the same simple black dress and decide on the colour palette to support the theme. In the case of Seaworld, I have moved away from the watery shades of lilac and periwinkle blue and instead focused on the coral reef colour palette as inspiration.
2. Look at the four main jewellery categories: Earrings, Neckwear, Wristwear and Rings and make sure your complement includes at least two of these pieces.
3. Think about the materials and colour ways in your jewellery repetoire that will support your look. In this case it’s golden lustres, oxidised metal, glossy reds and oranges and porous coral-like surfaces.
I would layer up the necklaces; with Bex Rox’s dainty sea horse resting on Kenneth Jay Lane’s coral fan. Wendy Yue needs no introduction, her extraordinary statement cocktail rings are masterful and tell a story beyond a thousand words. I would leave out wristwear and focus on the neckline with the ring completing our look.
