Last week, I was invited to see the newly revamped Alex Monroe jewellery boutique and was blown away. I could see the towering celadon green multi-storey as I turned the corner into Snowsfields. On arrival, I saw Alex’s head appear above the birdie window decal offering a warm smile and welcome wave as if prompted (but it was totally spontaneous, I promise). Once through the front door, we were met with warm exuberance by the Alex Monroe team and escorted into the showroom.
Stepping into the showroom was like steeping into a botanist’s study-cum-vintage curiosity shop. The store is a curated showcase of Alex’s delicate jewels set amongst antique furnishings, porcelain birds, towering glass domes, framed pictures and two ceiling-height trees.
What I loved, quite aside from the jewellery of course, was the assortment of birds, from tweeting plastic lookalikes, to menacing-looking crows and wise old owls.
Honestly though, Alex’s first ever store is a treat and well worth a visit. You’ll love it!!
