This iconic cuff by Tomasz Donocik has long been a favourite of mine and I am not alone. Carol Woolton, Jewellery Editor of Vogue Magazine, included Tomasz’ cuff in her newly released coffee table book ‘Fashion for Jewels: 100 Years of Styles and Icons’. It will always be a symbol of our time and for me will resound triumphantly in the history books as a piece to remember. Tomasz draws his inspiration from Chinese takeways, Persian rugs and in this case the Chesterfield sofa that we associate with stately homes and aristocratic grandeur.

The Chesterfield hails from Tomasz’ Russian Aristocracy collection and is based on a character Pechorin – Lermontov’s most famous romantic hero. The mystery and enchantment of Pechorin’s aloof character was addictive and alluring. This piece is a testimomy to the playful avant garde that resonated through the mid 1800s and the contradictions of Lermontov’s main character.
