From the shimmering pearlescent jewels and underwater setting at Chanel to the seabed statement cocktail rings at Versace and the flirty shell chandeliers at Holly Fulton, the ocean and all its glinting sea life references were a key inspiration for SS12. As Boticca celebrates its first birthday this week, I thought I would use the online designer jewellery portal and the vast display case of emerging designers, as my source for some tidal treasures.

Wear any of the jewels below with a cool palette of mint and light blue with a tinge of peach and lilac and you will be all set for a summer fling even before we say hello to 2012!… Oh and Happy Birthday, Boticca!

Seabed textures present such a beautiful contrast with the smooth, glassiness of jewels: rough coral, water-worn pebbles, ornately scored shells – sublime!
