Having stayed up until the wee hours of the morning to watch the stars parade down the red carpet, my focus was naturally on the jewels. Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture was my absolute favourite; I loved her multi-colour jewel statement armpiece by Van Cleef & Arpels – a perfect colour splash to complement her lavender gown.

Livia Firth’s Green Carpet Challenge in collaboration with Vogue UK has been an inspiration. Not only was her bespoke dress by Gary Harvey made out of twelve vintage dresses from the era of ‘The King’s Speech’, but her jewellery had a story to tell too. Livia’s red carpet jewels were designed in collaboration with Anna Loucah. Anna used fairtrade, fairmined, ecological gold – Oro Verde from Columbia, diamonds from a women’s co-operative in Lesotho and aquamarines sourced by Guy Clutterbuck in Eastern Zambia. Livia was spot on trend with her double drop earrings and statement cocktail ring.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s metallic sequin dress designed for her by Calvin Klein was accessorised with vintage-inspired pieces from Louis Vuitton. The brooch made a particularly striking picture pinned off-centre and the multi-coloured stones in both the earrings and the brooch added an exciting colour pop to her golden image.

Mandy Moore’s exquisite Monique Lhuillier dress was accessorised with dazzling diamond button stud earrings and a statement cocktail ring. The stone-encrusted Chopard jewels provided the perfect ‘demi-parure’ to the crystal jewel embellishment in the dress.

Rachel Roy rocked spring/summer 2011′s colour blocking with lush, hot pink and a tropical red dress. The Amrapali statement cuffs, big hoop earrings and a delicate Y-chain provided the perfect adornment to her simple silhoutte. I loved the fact that she wore a cuff on both wrists, too.
