ITEM OF THE WEEK
It was the last of my appointments on the Saturday of London Fashion Week, but the one that I was looking forward to the most. Maria had told me at ‘Treasure’, earlier on in the year, that she was going to do something different and when an email arrived in my inbox announcing a ‘Save the Date’ and the title of her Spring/Summer 2011 collection, I knew we were going to see something special.
I arrived to the sounds of Raya Kostova playing the grand piano and a presentation of mannequins all raised on plinths wearing Maria’s new collection. The Charleston-esque hair styles and background music transported one into the 1920s where Maria had created an interactive Salon presentation. ‘Amor Los Une’ is a selection of statement pieces and ready-to-wear jewels inspired by passion. In fact the script ‘Amor Los Une’ comes from original sixteenth century jewellery engravings that lovers would share to declare their love for eternity.

This piece perfectly reflects the jewellery-wear aesthetic, where clothing and jewellery become seamlessly intergrated, and to this end it is crowned ‘Item of the Week’ this week on Adorn London.
