One of the hottest jewelry pieces to come off the SS2012 catwalks was Givenchy‘s shark tooth pendant which appeared in a variety of styles including natural tooth and silver and gold metal. I’ve always had a thing for men who wear jewellery well – it’s such a fine line between trashy and terrific. So when I spotted this young man rocking the aformentioned tooth on The Sartorialist recently I was suitably impressed.
There are two reasons he makes this jewellery look work. Firstly, despite the rather feminine approach to ‘piling it all on’ – not to mention that lacy t-shirt – he’s opted for a unifying ‘rock’n'roll aesthetic and a pale palette that keeps things simple but sharp. The second ingredient to his winning look is bags of attitude. And that, unfortunately, is something money can’t buy.
