New York based Amanda Brotman is the creative force behind Amanda Pearl. Named after her grandmother Pearl, she is a Seattle native and former dancer who spent 12 years training and performing with the esteemed Pacific Northwest Ballet. In 1999 she moved to New York to attend Barnard College and earned a degree in Art History and Visual Arts. Upon graduating, Amanda joined Marc Jacobs where she spent the following four years in the RTW technical design and production departments, honing her understanding of materials, construction and the process of putting a line into global production.
When not working, Amanda can be found scouring flea markets for the latest treasure to add to her costume jewelry collection, sewing beads on a limited-edition Amanda Pearl bag or daydreaming about collecting seashells on a beach in Sardinia or St Barths.
Amanda credits the impeccable style and grace of her mother and grandmothers for inspiring and embodying the Amanda Pearl spirit. I am delighted to have Amanda on board and look forward to her contributions from across the pond.
