Anna Piaggi: A life in colour

Fashion maverick, style icon and accessories queen Anna Piaggi died on August 7th this week aged 81.

Throughout her life Piaggi served as a muse to a host of designers, most notably Karl Lagerfeld, and became known for her playful style which included trademark blue locks topped with quirky hats by Brit milliner Stephen Jones.

As a journalist Piaggi contributed for many years to Vogue Italia, her ‘D.P. Doppie Pagine di Anna Piaggi’ column inspiring the fashion world with collages of words, ideas and images which pulled together disparate inspirations under a given monthly theme.

In 2006, London’s Victoria & Albert museum exhibited clothes – including garments by Balenciaga, Fendi, Galliano and Poiret – from her personal wardrobe, dresses from which were said to number in their thousands.

On Adorn London today we pay tribute to Piaggi with a selection of her best jewellery looks.
