Justine Stafford is the editor of fashion and lifestyle blog, ifor1. She lives in Cape Town with her husband and "tiny tyrant" and, when she isn’t madly glued to her computer writing blogs, she makes the time to contribute to magazines such as Dossier, Private Edition, National Geographic Traveller, Elle (SA) and Obrigado. We are grateful that she took some time out to talk to Adorn London.

Adorn London: So Justine, you are hailed as one of Cape Town’s top ‘fashionistas’ with serious nous on the who’s who in the South African fashion scene. SAFW is coming up; could you tell us which collections you are looking forward to seeing? Will you be publishing ‘Runway Reports’ on iFOR1?

Justine: Yes, I will definitely be there. It was enormous fun doing the video interviews and behind-the-scene clips last year so I’m looking forward to it. Clive Rundle usually does the finale and is my favourite show to watch because his concepts are always so strong and his collection usually very exciting. I’m also a big fan of Black Coffee, Gideon, Anisa Mpungwe from ‘Loin cloth and Ashes’ and Lisa Jaffe.

Adorn London: How important is jewellery on the South African catwalk?

Justine: I haven’t seen too many collaborations between fashion and jewellery designers to date, however, last year a few designers such as Colleen Eitzen collaborated with community beadwork and craft projects, creating beautiful modern-African accessories for her collection.

Adorn London: What would be your ‘must-have’ statement pieces for Spring/Summer 2010?

Justine: Well, South Africa is going into winter now so on the clothing front, it would have to be one of Black Coffee’s incredible coats  – fresh from the catwalk of their recent debut showing at New York Fashion Week. On the jewellery front: I love statement right hand rings and have been lusting after Kirsten Goss’s quail’s egg ring for some time now.

Adorn London: Do you wear local designers or do you have a globally-inspired wardrobe?

Justine: I love the innovation and irreverence of local design and try to support local designers as much as possible, however, I do believe it’s more realistic to have a mix of brands (high and low) in your wardrobe otherwise the choice (and budget!) becomes very limited.

Adorn London: Could you tell Adorn London what is in your jewellery box?

Justine: I’ve been collecting jewellery for years so have a lot to choose from, but my style is quite minimalist so I tend to stick to favourites that I wear over again. Everyday choices include a Kirsten Goss seedpod neckpiece I bought a few years ago, a mother-of-pearl right hand ring from Phillipa Green and gold cut-out flower earrings from Ida-Elsje that work friends gave me when I went freelance.
