FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE

KENZO

Dr Zhivago and the romance of love in a time of revolution sparked Marras’ inspiration for his Catwalk shows. The collection showcases the majesty of tapestry inspired folkloric tales and Bolshevic austerity. He juxtaposes the peasant with the palace – patchwork fur and sequins are quilted together to create a collection of distinct contrasts. The layered knits and fine rose printed fabrics are adorned with chunky bangles, oversize cabochons and statement neckpieces.

JOHN GALLIANO

Lavish detailing and embroidered folk costume unleashed a fairytale like magic in Galliano’s Russian-Balkan inspired collection. Peasant blouses, bodices, puffed sleeves and pom-pom trims dominated the scene. Coin head dresses, rosary chain and medusa like medallions were lavishly layered and all contributed to the opulent escapism that transported us to a place far away.
