Instead of manes of chain (which we featured in our ‘Hot to Trot’ week), are we going to get used to Spring/Summer 2011′s take on fringing in the form of a pom-pom? Giles’ and House of Holland’s take on the pastel-hued powder puff left us under no illusion that we were going to have to cut out cardboard circles to make a furry fluff ball or two. Henry’s tongue-in-cheek approach to the new fringe seemed to be the cherry on the top of the metallic cupcake skirts. Banana leaf aside, Palm Springs and Xanadu inspired his collection, where all that seemed to be missing, was a butler’s tray and crystal blue pool. Giles’ lurid colour combinations and Pac-Man patterns were accessorised by the oversized pom-pom which contributed to the overall rave-like quality that has become synonymous with Giles’ signature – a crazy world that manages to refine bad taste.
