ITEM OF THE WEEK:

Inspired by the Fendi ‘Granny bag’ and a long-term love affair with this ancient craft, I have chosen micro mosaic jewels as the ‘item of the week’. Tiny pieces of unusually small mosaic components, called tesserae, are pieced together to form a picture, and  held in place with cement in a glass or stone background. The older the piece, the smaller the ‘tesserae’. I love this arrangement of narrative pendants from Anney Friday, who has the best pendant selection on the net. I often trawl the local charity shops for vintage micro mosaic gems and keep a watchful eye on eBay. A good investment piece, as, having seen  the Catwalks at London Fashion Week, embriodery is here to stay and we are delighted to bring you a jewelled display!… a nod to Vintage and the Catwalk too.
