Cleopatra earrings – Wendy Brandes

Samantha in Sex and the City2

ITEM OF THE WEEK

As seen on screen, Samantha wears Wendy Brandes Cleopatra earrings in the tent scene. When I asked Wendy Brandes, the designer of the earrings, what the inspiration was behind the pair she said: "The majority of my jewelry is inspired by queens and other notable historical women. When you love queens, you HAVE to have Cleopatra. It was a foregone conclusion that I would create jewelry in her honor. In fact, the Cleopatra earrings were my second queen-inspired design ever. The first was Elizabeth I". I then went on to ask Wendy what she did when she heard her earrings we used in SaTC2: "My first reaction was disbelief. When my friend told me that she’d seen the earrings in the trailer, I said ‘I’m not going to believe you till I see it with my own eyes’ and went about my day! I’m excited to see the whole movie. Pat Field borrowed other pieces so I’ll be straining my eyes just in case my Marie Antoinette ring shows up too".
