Put on your pearls, girls

Q: I love pearls but fear to wear them due to the twinset connotation. However, I fell in love with this pearl and silver necklace from Zurich jewellers Quadrat, and had to buy it. But can you suggest which other pieces to wear with it so as to keep the vibe modern and funky?
- Nichola, Zurich

A: Nichola, I was on Oxford Street yesterday and couldn’t help but notice these gorgeous pearl drop earrings from Dorothy Perkins, inspired no doubt by the catwalk. Dior Haute Couture do a beautiful made-to-order piece. They caught my eye when modelled by the twins (Aida and Ieva) on the cover of the Sunday Times Style magazine last week.Neither of these earrings are available online, but as soon as they are I will put them in the Adorn SHOP. "Put on your pearls, girls" is a quote synonymous with Lulu Guinness. It would be fitting therefore to suggest her oversize pearl ring to give your pearls a contemporary feel. This Coast bracelet mixes the natural pearl colour with greys, browns and pinks. So to update your pearls, I would suggest ‘oversize’ and the addition of different colours to offset the natural pearl, just like in the bracelet.
