I have long been a fan of Shaun Leane’s Signature Tusk Collection and chose to wear a turquoise and coral combination bangle stack to a highbrow jewellery do in Dubai last year. Now, having seen his monochrome stacks on the AW12 catwalk in Antonio Berardi’s show, a few black and ivory resin ensembles wouldn’t go amiss!

There is nothing I love more than the Prada runway during the catwalk season. It is probably the show I look forward to the most. The creative genius that is Miuccia Prada drives the thinking behind each collection that straddles both aspiration and wearability. Prada’s AW 2102 ticks all my boxes. I love the graphic repeat patterns, sleek silhouettes and colour palette, in fact so much so that I have created a ‘love list’ of the jewels that today sum up the Prada palette for next winter. Pixie Lott looked ravishing in her Dolce & Gabbana number as she took to the Red Carpet at the Brit awards last night. But for us jewellery magpies, the outfit was made by the dazzling selection of jewels she wore by Annoushka. The cascading diamond earrings and the delicate horseshoe diamond set necklace were offset by a statement ‘Barrier Reef’ cocktail ring that is bang on trend for SS12.

Jewellery Trends AW12: Rick Rack

One of the details that has caught my eye at London Fashion Week, is the zig zag. Moving on from the Egyptian chevron influences for SS12, we are seeing the humble triangle taking on a more graphic feel with colour pop ‘rick rack’ patterns infiltrating the collections including the House of Holland, Louise Gray and Clements Ribeiro. Marc Jacob’s set for his Fall 2012 collection showcased in New York this week was the brainchild of scupltor, Rachel Feinstein. Feinstein transformed the Lexington Armory into a decaying illustration of twisted turrets and decaying, cavernous grottoes that transported one into a white wonderland not dissimilar to a scene from Narnia, for example. The paper theme inspired this jewellery blog post as I scoured my resources for striking statement jewels crafted from paper. I stumbled upon this statement beaded choker by Prada in the 1980s. The bright yellow beads clustered in saturated formations remind me of the dense pollen on the tips of stamens signifying spring has sprung and summer is on its way.The intense yellow colour is not dissimilar to a New York taxi cabs rushing round the City metropolis at this time taking the who’s who of the fashion world from one runway to the next. Immersed in catwalk culture, I admit I might have yellow on the brain but I am not alone, it looks like Tommy Ton might have too!
